The Parenting Institute's Protocol

Reunification Counseling

For reunification to occur, The Parenting Institute's protocol requires three components:

  • Parents/guardians must participate in co-parenting counseling. This can be done in person or virtually, with a therapist at The Parenting Institute or with another provider. Consents must be in place for the reunification counselor and co-parenting counselor to communicate. It is recommended that co-parenting counseling occurs at least twice per month.

  • The child(ren) must be in individual counseling. Consents are needed for the reunification counselor and the child(ren)'s individual counselor(s) to communicate and consult with one another in support of the child(ren).

  • The parenting partners must participate in a one-hour weekly meeting about the health and well-being of their child(ren) on the parenting communication app- OurFamilyWizard. This meeting will be structured, and bullet points of discussion will be child focused and provided by the reunification/co-parenting counselor.

Co-parenting Counseling

In order to participate in co-parenting counseling at The Parenting Institute, we require parenting partners to have a one-hour weekly meeting on the parenting communication app, OurFamilyWizard. This meeting will be about the health and well-being of your child(ren). Your co-parenting counselor will review your communication on OurFamilyWizard prior to your scheduled sessions.

Fees for Service

Our fees are $150 per session. The fee will be the same per session whether the therapist meets with adults (together or separately), children (together or separately), or adult(s) with child(ren). Unless another allocation is court ordered or agreed upon by the parties, typically the parenting partners will split the session fee in half ($75 per person).  We accept credit card, check, and health savings accounts for payment.
